Tennessee AP College Career Day & Awards Luncheon
The Tennessee AP College Career Day and College Awards luncheon will be held Saturday, April 28, at The John Seigenthaler Center in Nashville starting with registration at 9:30 a.m.
The college session begins at 10 a.m. with a panel discussion with news directors and editors, followed by breakout sessions focused on broadcast, print and online at 10:30 a.m. The college awards luncheon will start at 11:45 a.m. with the awards for the best in 2017 college journalism. After lunch, students will have the opportunity to meet one-on-one with news executives, editors and other professionals to discuss their work. The event will conclude about 3 p.m.
Registration is required for the college awards luncheon and the one-on-one sessions. The one-on-one sessions will be scheduled in 20-minute increments on a first come, first served basis. Students attending the one-on-one sessions should bring laptops to show website of work or copies of print stories. The deadline for registration is Monday, April 23.
The sessions are open to all college journalism students in Tennessee and the sessions are no charge. The awards luncheon is $10.
HOTEL ROOMS: The Nashville Marriott at Vanderbilt has rooms available at the group rate of $229 per night. The deadline to reserve a room at the group rate is 4 p.m., Wednesday, April 11. After that date, the Marriott cannot guarantee the group rate will be available.
